Why 'Wait' Doesn't Work in Life

Have patience with me. In a year when my project is complete we'll take a weekend to get away and to relax. Wait until I get there. Just three more days and then you will know great joy.

Some people live their lives out in the future. Someday, maybe, they will experience joy. They hope that they will finally arrive somewhere meaningful. But, they won't ever get there! Now that possibility never occurs to them or they would not put off the satisfaction, joy and love available in this moment. They think of themselves as immortal. So, if you will never die, then you can put off what you can create today until tomorrow. If, you got the idea that there may be no tomorrow, then you would do it today. Actually, you would do it now. Whatever the 'it' is, you would make that scenario happen in your life now.

That is why people faced with cancer or imminent death radically change how they live their lives. They realize time is limited so they taste every moment. Each experience of 'now' could be their last. Knowing that, they choreograph their lives accordingly. Nothing important gets put off. Each expression of love is elevated to a high level of importance and gets expressed prior to the mundane aspects of life. This is the opposite way we perceived 'immortal' creatures create our daily lives. We put our Ôto doÕ list ahead of what is in our heart and of what is in our highest interest. This is a sorry way for healthy people to live.

It usually takes facing a terminal illness, a divorce or any disruptive major life change for us to re-prioritize our lives. This is both a shame and the human condition. How can we impact this? Hopefully by realizing we are all mortal beings, we can begin to express what is truly important to us and relegate what is mundane and trivial to the back burner. The mundane part of the daily organization of life needs to be factored into your day in a more balanced way.

This is a wake up call for human beings stuck in the 'someday maybe' way of living. Please, wake up and realize that someday maybe may never get here. Now may be all you get! Seize the moment and live life as a fully expressed human being. Don't wait for something terrible to happen to you before you decide to change your priorities.

Take a moment to look at what you have been putting off. Then, consciously choose to do that now. Express yourself in all your beauty now. Let someone know you love him or her. Let a person with whom you are currently intimate know they have touched your soul now. Do not wait to demonstrate any form of natural self-expression. Live fully in the moment for the moment is truly all you have.
